Anger Therapy

in Thornhill

At Transformational Growth Psychotherapy, we don’t just teach you to “manage your anger.”

We help you heal the root causes so you can finally feel balanced, grounded, and back in control.

We help people who feel their anger takes over too quickly.

People who react before they can think, who feel regret afterward, and who are tired of repeating the same patterns.

If you want to slow things down and feel in control again — we’re here to help.

You don’t have an “anger issue.” You have emotions that need balance, understanding, and a safe place to land.

Anger can feel explosive — like you go from 0 to 100 in seconds with no warning. One minute you’re trying to manage a hard conversation… the next, everything has escalated and you don’t even recognize yourself.

You might say things like:

You’re not a bad person.
You’re not “broken.”
You’re overwhelmed — and your emotions are out of balance.

Anger is one of the hardest emotions to navigate because it’s the only emotion our society both fears and punishes. One outburst can cost you your job, your relationships, or access to your children. Yet anger is also one of the most common and natural human emotions — and one of the least understood.

If you’re tired of anger wreaking havoc on your life, you’re in the right place.

Why Anger Happens — And Why It Isn’t Your Fault

Most people were never taught how to work with anger. You may have been taught to stuff it down, to “calm down,” or to pretend it doesn’t exist. But suppressed anger doesn’t go away — it builds. If you don’t understand what it’s trying to communicate, it gets stronger.

There is no such thing as an anger issue — only emotions that are out of balance. When anger shows up intensely, it means other emotions aren’t being processed. Anger has become the body’s last resort.

Left unaddressed, the stakes are high:

This is why real support matters.

Our Approach: A Body–Mind–Soul Method That Actually Works

Most anger approaches try to teach “strategies” — use a time-out, count to ten, walk away. These can help in the moment, but they don’t heal the underlying emotional imbalance.

At Transformational Growth Psychotherapy, we work differently.

We help you slow down the anger process.

Anger rises when the nervous system is overwhelmed. Our work helps you find the space between the trigger and the reaction, so you can think, choose, and stay present.

We help you understand what your anger is trying to say.

Every outburst carries a message — fear, hurt, unmet needs, boundaries crossed. Once you learn to decode the message, anger becomes empowering, not destructive.

We process the root emotions — not just the anger on the surface.

When the deeper emotions are released, anger naturally loses its intensity.

We teach you how to use anger in a productive, healthy way.

Anger contains energy that can fuel clarity, boundaries, confidence, and self-respect.

This isn’t just cognitive therapy — it’s transformational work.

Root-cause, somatic, body-based, emotional processing — all combined into one individualized 1:1 program.

Our services are covered by most third-party insurance plans, including those that cover dentists, massage therapists, and similar services. However, since each plan is different, we recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your specific coverage. Our services fall under Registered Psychotherapy.

When reviewing your plan, it’s important to know how much coverage you have per year and when your coverage renews.

We accept payment by credit card, cash, or cheque. After each session, you’ll receive a receipt, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

This often depends on your individual needs and goals. In our first session, your therapist will discuss this with you. Some clients attend therapy weekly, others bi-weekly, monthly, or on an as-needed basis. Your therapy frequency may depend on both your goals and budget.

Since we are very client-centred, we’ll work with you to find the best approach to meet your needs. However, we do find that weekly sessions help clients get out of crisis and see changes the fastest.

Most therapy focuses on managing symptoms. Our work focuses on the root cause. By using a body-first, trauma-informed approach, we help you process what’s stored in the nervous system — not just think about it. This creates lasting change instead of temporary relief.

Yes. We offer both in-person and secure online sessions for clients across Ontario. You can choose whichever option helps you feel most comfortable and supported.
